Local Store Seeks Powerball Winner

By Joseph Martin

CHEROKEE - A local convenience store is seeking the owner of a winning $600,000 Powerball ticket sold at their Cherokee location. The window for which the winner can claim the prize is closing fast for the holder of the ticket sold in February. Russell Winchester, who co-owns the Catamount Travel Center just off of the reservation, said he’s hoping it’s somebody local.

“It never crossed my mind that we wouldn’t have the winner show up.” He said the state has been kind in sending him information to help the store locate the winner. “Look through your drawers, and make sure you don’t have the ticket laying somewhere.”

The winning number is 13-19-32-38-51 PB30. The ticket was purchased at Winchester’s store for the Feb. 13 drawing. The expiration for claiming the prize is in August.
